The changing role of sport in society is marked by a rise in the professionalisation, commodification and globalisation of sporting events. The sports industry continues to grow, employing millions around the world and providing billions of dollars of revenue into the economy. However, the integrity of sport is being challenged both domestically and internationally.
This Wilton Park dialogue, which will include a conversation with Sir Hugh Robertson, Chairman of the British Olympic Association, and contributions from The Baroness Grey-Thompson DBE and Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General Arjoon Suddhoo, will discuss ways to improve integrity and good governance in sport, and support global collaborative efforts through the use of diplomacy and soft power in the sporting arena. Bringing together a wide range of experts and countries who would not automatically meet for informal and off-the-record discussions, including representatives from governments, sports bodies, international organisations, law enforcement organisations and civil society groups.
