Sub-Saharan Africa is home to 16% of the world’s population and 23% of the global disease burden yet mobilises only 1% of total health spending. Incremental change will not be enough to bridge the gap and accelerate the attainment of Africa’s health goals. To take the most impactful and transformative health innovations to scale, innovative approaches to funding and partnership are needed.
Building upon earlier discussions held in November 2021 and March 2022, the final dialogue convened high-level stakeholders across the private, public, and non-profit sectors to consider strategically, yet practically, how private and public capital can be more effectively mobilise to scale high-impact health ventures in sub-Saharan Africa. The dialogue aimed to strengthen networks, forge new partnerships, and outline the actions needed by different actors to transform Africa’s health financing landscape.
