The Placencia Ambition Forum (PAF) brought together major actors in the climate change negotiations virtually around a central theme of increasing ambition and a focus on safeguarding the Paris Agreement.
PAF provided an opportunity for members of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) to encourage and drive climate action in the lead up to COP26 and beyond in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It particularly focused on raising ambition in Nationally Determined Contributions. Discussions centred around four key priorities for Small Island Developing States: energy, transport, adaptation and resilience and finance.
The Forum was hosted by the Government of Belize as the Chair of AOSIS, with a coalition of partners, including Climate Analytics, NDC Partnership, The Climate Ambition Support Alliance, Independent Diplomat, UK Government and Wilton Park.
