His current programme covers the future of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and leads our annual December conference which has become an established international forum for dialogue on this topic.
His work also includes the future for extended nuclear deterrence and assurance and related issues in nuclear weapons policy; international response to deliberate biological release; and the future for the Chemical Weapons Convention.
Away from weapons of mass destruction (WMD) policy, Mark focuses on international work on landmine clearance and the 2025 aspiration to be landmine-free; and counter-trafficking of small arms and light weapons.
Mark was previously Research Fellow at the Mountbatten Centre for International Studies and Lecturer in International Security at the University of Southampton, and Research Fellow at Swansea University.
He studied Politics at the University of East Anglia (BA Hons), and International Politics at the University of Wales Aberystwyth (MSc Econ and PhD).
