At half time on Agenda 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are off track, a message re-emphasised at the UN’s September 2023 SDG Summit. Evidence based and targeted policy making is urgently needed to maximise our chances of making meaningful progress by 2030. Multiple actors across different domains have sought to identify policies and interventions that could have a significant multiplier effect in delivering across multiple SDGs, whilst minimising trade-offs between them.
This Wilton Park Conference will map, discuss and explore the evidence for policies that have a multiplier effect and therefore the potential to turbo charge SDG delivery. It provides an opportunity to create a ‘coalition of champions’ to promote, adopt and mainstream this approach to SDG policy making through a development lens. It will develop conclusions and recommendations for policy makers and will serve as a stepping stone for other high-level discussions scheduled in 2024 including the UN Summit of the Future.
