This meeting will facilitate progress on the UK’s implementation paper to be submitted to the 2020 Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty Review Conference. As part of the drafting process for that report, it will engage the non-nuclear weapon states as part of the consultations towards a final version for submission. It will foster engagement between the UK and non-nuclear weapon states, in particular the Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative group states, allowing a space for the UK to outline its positions on issues pertaining to the current security environment and how this affects UK disarmament priorities. It will develop a dialogue on transparency and the UK’s record on disarmament.
