In collaboration with Barclays and International Inspiration, this event convened an international cross section of stakeholders from government, civil society, private sector and the sport community to share lessons and work towards practical recommendations going forward in sport for development.
An innovative low cost tool for development, this event addressed sport’s unique ability to unite communities, tackle inequality and address a wide range of social challenges.
Beyond physical wellbeing, sport can play an important role for a more prosperous and more peaceful society as a communicative and educational tool. An opportunity to share perspectives, participants addressed the following key questions:
- What does ‘success’ in sport for development look like?
- How to best measure and communicate the impact of sport on different communities?
- What opportunities for stimulating and impactful collaboration between public, private and non-government actors?
- How does sport fit into broader development efforts, including the post-2015 development agenda?
