Following the success of last year’s event, the School of International Futures (SOIF) returned to Wilton Park this August to run another strategic foresight retreat.
This year’s theme was ‘Anticipatory governance’, after the Fuerth report of the same name published in October last year. We were pleased to welcome Leon Fuerth to the retreat.
Strategic foresight helps us plan and take decisions in the complex world we live in today. Integrating analysis and expert views from a wide range of disciplines, it is used to generate scenarios that are directly relevant to the issues organisations face, and to assess the implications of these scenarios for business and policy.
Speakers included:
- Mathew Burrows, lead author of the US National Intelligence Council’s Global Trends 2030 report
- Leon Fuerth, Director of the Project on Forward Engagement and author of Anticipatory Governance: Practical Upgrades
- Arif Lalani, Special Envoy to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC); Ambassador, Embassy of Canada to United Arab Emirates
