This workshop will bring together key stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region, including government officials and representatives of finance institutions, the private sector, civil society and academia to mobilise support for priority transmission projects, build political will and identify opportunities for project finance.
The GGI’s Asia-Pacific Working Group (APWG) was established ahead of COP26 with the objective of facilitating investments in the transmission grid infrastructure required to integrate renewable energy generation across the Asia-Pacific region. Since then, the Working Group has supported the development of new tools and resources, including a set of Principles for Interconnectors, the Electricity Transition Playbook and the OSeMOSYS energy modelling system.
Through the workshop, the APWG will focus on the application of these tools to real-world projects, identify partnerships and agree on a shared workplan for 2024.
