The COP26 Catalyst’s online Global Gathering on Capacity Building will be an opportunity for the members of the four thematic Action Groups to share some of the work they have been engaged in, to consult key stakeholder constituencies, and to seek practical solutions to the capacity building challenges identified through their consultations at the 2021 UN Regional Climate Weeks and subsequent deliberations. The event will include plenary sessions open to all, including presentations from our Action Groups on Adaptation Action, Access to Finance, Carbon Markets Participation, and Transparency and Reporting.
The Paris Agreement provides us with a truly global framework for climate ambition and action. To unlock the full scope of the Paris Agreement, it is important that all countries can participate to their maximum potential and that a lack of capacity does not hold them back.
In its role as the incoming COP26 Presidency, the UK is committed to better understanding the capacity building challenges faced by developing countries and climate finance recipients, particularly those most vulnerable to climate impacts, and to provide opportunities to share positive experiences and lessons learned across the Asia-Pacific region.
The COP26 Catalyst is a framework to bring together key stakeholders in capacity building to discuss challenges and to catalyse action through four Action Groups on Adaptation Action, Access to Finance, Carbon Markets Participation, and Transparency and Reporting, and through wider consultation at the UN Regional Climate Weeks.
Simultaneous interpretation in English, Spanish and French will be available for these sessions.
