This conference discussed the following points:
The conference will explore how global health security might be improved through international cooperation, with particular reference to the benefits and risks of dual-use biological science. It will seek to address the nexus of such work with the Global Partnership against the spread of weapons and materials of mass destruction, and the work programme of the Biological & Toxin Weapons Convention, including topics such as improving biosafety and biosecurity. The conference will also consider possible sources of funding for cooperative work in this area, not only under the Global Partnership but also other national and international organisations, including the international Science Centres in Moscow and Kiev. Its focus will be on cooperation with governments and institutes of the Former Soviet Union states.
