This annual conference will assess diplomatic, political and strategic challenges for the global nuclear non-proliferation regime, and to support NPT diplomacy in the wake of the 2024 NPT PrepCom, looking towards this current Review cycle.

The event will, as always, draw participation from the NPT Bureau, the Nuclear Weapons States, key NPT groupings like NPDI, NAC, and NAM, as well as IAEA, UNODA, and global NGO experts, to assess the current challenges to the NPT regime and its functioning. Specific issues to be covered include:

  • Increasing nuclear salience and the evolving nuclear threat landscape;
  • Managing evolving nuclear risks and threats;
  • The non-proliferation challenges presented by Iran and North Korea, and coordinated international response;
  • The evolution of nuclear safety, security and safeguards;
  • Disarmament diplomacy: ongoing work on transparency, verification, and irreversibility;
  • Disarmament diplomacy: the outcomes of the TPNW Meeting of States Parties, the Middle East WMD-Free Zone conference, and the G7 Hiroshima Summit;
  • The evolution of peaceful uses, how to support the Sustained Dialogue, and supporting global commitment to nuclear security;
  • The NPT Review cycle, and how to work towards a successful outcome at the next Review.
