Effective communication to prepare a ‘vaccine literate’ public and persuade policymakers to trust the science and embrace new vaccines for COVID-19 as they become available must begin now. We need to reinforce beyond doubt the critical role immunisation plays within a functioning health delivery system.

Wilton Park, the City University of New York Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy (CUNY SPH) and the Vaccine Confidence Project at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is facilitating a series of virtual dialogues that will bring together cross-sectoral experts to elicit the broadest range of options to determine how best to advance a ‘coronavirus-protected’ population, beginning with effective, measurable communications to advance public understanding of COVID-19 and vaccination to protect our lives and livelihoods. The dialogues will inform the establishment of the CONVINCE Initiative (COVID-19 New Vaccine Information Communication and Education).
